Hair Drug Test
A Hair Drug test can test back 90 days. The method for detecting drugs in hair uses radioimmunoassay and state-of-the-art GC/MS, GC/MS/MS or LC/MS/MS confirmation to measure the durg molecules and metabolites, which were incorporated following ingestion.
The standard test that are included in testing are: Cocaine, marijuana, opiates, methamphetamine, Ecstasy and phencyclidine (PCP). Studies indicate that hair collected at the crown of the head grows on the average apporoximately 1.3 cm (or 1/2 inch) per month. This growth rate may vary amoung people;consequently the same 3.9cm length of hair may represent slightyly differrent time periods.
The primary difference between hair analysis and urinalysis is the wider window of detection with hair. Cocaine, methamphetamine, opiates and PCP are papidly excreted and usually undetectable in urine 72 hours after use (depending on persons use and other variables). It takes approximately 5-7 DAYS from the time of drug use for the affected hair to grow above the scalp.
